A Woman Chosen

A Woman Chosen

I studied under a business coach very briefly at the beginning of the year. Her methodology impacted me greatly.

It’s called “The Heart Story”.

@emma_natter says to rummage through the stories of your life and find the one which has impacted you the most. She goes on to say, we should create a sentence like this....”if everyone felt like (this), the world would be a better place.

I want everyone to feel the way I felt in this picture.

This is my heart story.

Courtship really started for me “after” a ring had been placed on my finger.

He had to return to California. I remained in Ghana. Logistics were yet to be worked out.

He called me every day, two to three times a day, for hours at a time. If I wasn’t working, I was on the phone. It was almost impossible to get a sentence out of me between the office and my bedroom.

It was beautiful, and romantic, and tragic and dramatic. All my favorite scenes in a movie.....my own movie.

His sweet mother passed away the year after we met and married. And so events had to be further postponed.

But.

In the meantime.

There were our rendezvous.

Europe and the Middle East were our meeting places.

In this picture we’re in Paris....and I am the HAPPIEST woman in the world!!!!

Sometimes it would be for a quick getaway weekend....he could only stay for the weekend, I usually stayed longer.

It was sweet and bittersweet.

He proposed to me again and again in different cities. I have all the rings to show for it. This is why I wear wedding rings on both hands.

I was not chosen early.

In my mid to late 30s.

After designing and planning by best friends engagements, weddings, christenings and so much more....being the “single” designer...where all the aunties and mothers of the bride kept on asking....”why aren’t you married???”. It was endearing and also terribly embarrassing! The woman who arranged love didn’t have love.

Until now.

We are all different.

And we must celebrate our differences.

Life means NOTHING to me without love.

Yes, career is and can be fascinating.

But I would give it all up for love!

Which I did.
